The Nice Guy’s Guide To Meeting Women In Maceio (Brazil)

Maceio (capital of Alagoas state) is a touristic Brazilian city up North from Salvador and Aracaju. Some visit Maceio for a weekend, then tell everyone afterwards: “it’s a wonderful place!”. Perhaps referring to the beachfront coconut tree-lined scenery. Or maybe they had a 5-star beachfront hotel, right next to the nightlife area, with a spa and jacuzzi on the top floor (similar to this one). So they went in and out, spent a lot of cash and said it was great. But is this applicable to you?

Maceió is a nice weekend getaway destination, with your girlfriend. But solo, it can be boring, especially during the week. There is literally only a damn nice beachfront. Not much else. Food is sub-par by Brazilian standards. It’s an average mid-sized city, with not much to offer. Maybe the nightlife is decent in normal circumstances. But currently it is only seated, by communist decree. Thus, avoid Maceio for now, until nightlife goes back to normal. Maybe if the nightlife returns, it’ll be a much better experience.

Maceio Nightlife

The upmarket nightlife area consists mostly of 2 parallel streets. The first street is Av. Empresario Carlos da Silva Noguiera. This is the most upmarket street out of the two (it looked more expensive).

For a mini-barcrawl, start at the Wanderlust hostel, with its own ground floor bar – the Wanderlust bar. It’s clear that this hostel wanted to be in the dead centre of the nightlife action (Here’s a link to quickly secure a Wanderlust dorm at booking[dot]com). After Wanderlust, check out Saint Hops for a second drink, if you like good craft beer. It’s in a small side-street. Next, Conversa (Portuguese for “having conversations”), will serve your third drink in this improvised bar-crawl, often with a live Brazilian folk band playing in the background. Finally, end the night at the most famous bar-club of Maceio: Maikai. Across the street there is also the Boteco da Bola sportsbar, if you want something more down-to-earth, tranquil, and chilled out.

The second street I mentioned is Av. Antônio Gomes de Barros. It’s slightly less upmarket, with cheaper drinking options (if saving one or two Reals matter to you). You could walk up and down this street yourself on a busy night, and you’ll clearly see all the funky joints where you could hang out and meet people. However, currently everything is converted to seated for the scamdemic. Thus nightgame is not good in March 2021.

You could also get a drink at the beachfront bars at night. For example, Kanoa Bar is open until midnight. Plus, to get nice food at night, there’s a wide variety of tasty options at Truck Zone (5 minutes walking from Wanderlust Hostel).

Daygame

There were some hot girls after work in the grocery stores. But not as much during the daytime. Maceio felt like a boring city during week. There are solely beaches, which only seem to get busy during the weekend. Unless it’s e.g. December holidays.

Some beaches are busier. More specifically, some sections of beaches are busier. For example, around Kanoa bar seemed like the best beach area – very busy and vibey on a Saturday. In Maceio, there isn’t anything as cool as Leblon beach in Rio though.

The shopping malls had no hot girls. Yet Parque Shopping Maceió was a better, more upmarket mall, than Maceió Shopping in the center of the city.

Gbarbosa is a huge supermarket that had a few cute local girls, even during the daytime. I am refering to the branch right next to the upmarket nightlife area (Maikai, etc). So this seems like a good neighborhood to plant yourself in during your stay. Especially when the normal nightlife returns I wouldn’t wanna be anywhere else. Furthermore, I went to a gym, right next to this street on my final day (BG fitness – Praia). The price was twice as expensive as another bad gym I went to earlier that week. Thus, at BG fitness I paid R$50 instead of R$25. But with so many attractive girls inside, and a wide variety of machines, it was worth it.

As a tourist activity, you could e.g. go swimming in the Piscinas Naturais (Natural pools), which is accessible via boat from the beachfront.

Maceio Online Dating

As always, check out Brazilian Cupid. It’s a cool app to meet Brazilian girls, designed and created specifically for Brazil. The app runs smoothly, and nowadays not even Tinder is free. There’s Tinder Platinum, Tinder Plus, and Tinder Gold. What’s next… Tinder Bitcoin? So paying for a solid app like BrazilCupid (get a free profile here) is a good idea.

Otherwise, also check out Tinder. Quality in Maceio is lower than in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. But it’s very decent nevertheless. There is definitely much more choice in Maceio, than in smaller cities like Aracaju. Keep in mind, many of the hot girls would specifically want to meet up if you stay for a few weeks. If you are only dropping by for a weekend, then many women would simply lose interest. Because they’re so used to tourists already. You come and you go. You’re not exotic if you are a tourist in Maceio, because it is already a very touristic city. There are even direct flights connecting Maceio with Lisbon in Portugal.

If you really live in Maceio, then you have a better chance of lining up solid dates. You’ll have a good sex life. But if you only pass through, I believe quality of dates would be lower, the shorter you stay. I have a high date closing ratio with attractive girls. Because I love to screen for hot girls who would go all the way. I build some comfort on the apps first. Some of these techniques take more time, than immediately matching and hooking up the next night. Especially in Maceio, where you have no exotic value. Taking your time before meeting up, also allows you to go through the girl’s instagram first, to make sure she is as hot as her tinder photos. Thus, when she shows up on the date, you won’t be disappointed.

Maceio Women

This is a very Portuguese city. Talk English, then some girls may talk English back. Especially the white girls. But many attractive shop staff (mixed race girls) really did not know a word of English.

Judging by the majority of inhabitants, Maceio is a brown girl city, like Vitoria. While Salvador is black, and in the South of Brazil e.g. Curitiba and Florianopolis is white. Except for the racial differences, the girls are not different from the rest of Brazil (apart from everything I already mentioned).

I didn’t notice as much tourist girls on Tinder in Maceio, as I did in Salvador. Only one or two. So Salvador and Rio is better for dating tourists specifically (if that’s what you want). But Maceio’s local girls really aren’t that bad… Especially if you can type some Portuguese to conversar melhor (talk better), to the mulheres lindas (hot girls).

Moreover, if you are into black girls, then go to Salvador instead of Maceio. For white girls, that upmarket street I mentioned above, is a good place to stay. At night, a lot of white girls also congregate at the same bars in this area. For mixed race girls, there’s no specific place you need to go, you can meet them anywhere in Maceio.

Maceió Conclusion

Maceió is a city with main product “coconuts”. But you get coconuts everywhere along the coast in Brazil anyway – so its nothing special. The beaches look beautiful at first sight. But so what, if there aren’t that many hot girls on the beach? Aracaju had more of that Vegas carefree vibe than Maceio. However, during the week, both these cities can feel boring. So you’ll need some side-hustle or business to keep you busy. Unless the nightlife recovers, in which case you can at least potentially have a lot of fun at the night-time. Brazil is known for its nightlife. It is the strength of this country. So take this away, and suddenly Maceió feel like Iran or Jordan or some other oppressive country.

However, I’ll conclude on a positive note. Maceió grows on you, like a coconut tree at the beach. You gradually get to know the cool places to go shopping (for daygame), the awesome gyms to meet a few hot fitness freak girls. The better sections of the long stretches of beach. Lastly, you’ll slowly discover the most fun bars and nightclubs. But this you’ll only find out when the nightlife is rescued from the current socialist oppression.
