The Nice Guy’s Guide to Meeting Women in Buzios (Brazil)

Buzios (a.k.a. Armação dos Búzios) is the Brazilian St Tropez – a party town 3 to 4 hours by bus from Rio de Janeiro. It’s specifically known for the awesome nightlife (under normal circumstances), but there is also an overdose of beaches.

Currently in April 2021, Buzios is very quiet due to the NWO communist take-over. Still, there are less restrictions than everywhere else in Brazil. For example, although everything had to be closed at midnight, there wasn’t a curfew. Under normal circumstance, it looks like a promising party town to visit and potentially get laid through e.g. clubbing. It’s similar to Pipa – another beachtown, but also very different at the same time. Buzios is more of an upmarket romantic couple escape, and not a hippy town.

Buzios Women

There are a lot of girlfriends and boyfriends swarming the city. Plus a handful of attractive hired guns. But, there aren’t many single cute girls, unless potentially when it gets busier.

I’ve noticed quite a few black girls in Buzios. So, if you’re into black girls, and you can’t get to Salvador with more than 50% black women, you could always try Buzios with the 5% local black girls. The rest of the girls are mixed race and white.

It really seems like single girls would rather travel in groups with their friends to Buzios, instead of solo. Thus, don’t assume a girl is with her boyfriend, it could simply be her friend’s boyfriend or her brother. Nevertheless, Buzios is tough territory currently. Approach everything, groups included, then you may have success. When clubbing re-opens, it should become much easier.

Everything is very tourism dependent, thus English and Spanish are also widely spoken along with Portuguese.

Applying my own Yerba Mate Test, Buzios’ tourists (which includes the women), are from all over the South of Latin America. This includes Southern Brazil “Gaucha-land” (such as Curitiba), Uruguay, Buenos Aires and the rest of Argentina, and even Paraguay. Moreover, there are plenty of travellers from the neighboring states like Minas Gerais (Belo Horizonte) which don’t have their own beaches.

Buzios Beaches

If you set out to visit all the beaches in Buzios, things will get repetitive VERY quickly. Same story, different beach. No small town really needs this many beaches.

  • Praia da Ferratura: Scenic beach. Look on the map, and you’ll see that it’s an enclave-type beach.
  • Praia do Forno: Once again very scenic. Relaxed place for swimming. Red tint to the sand.
  • Praia Do Canto: Pleasant very tranquil scenic beach, with boats in the bay. Good for taking photos, and some tanning and swimming. Right next to Centro. There is also a fishing pier where you can sometimes see drunk couples making out around midnight.
  • Praia Da Armação: Small commercial beach surrounded by all kinds of business activity.
  • Praia Dos Ossos: Many guesthouses and hotels surround this beach. Thus, there is not much privacy. Still, it’s a tranquil beach without waves.
  • Praia Da Azeda: Slightly tucked away. It’s not a very big beach. In the week it may be nice and quiet, but weekend can get busy with beachgoers.
  • Praia Azedinha: The -inha indicates its a small beach right next to the main Azeda beach. It’s even more tucked away than Azeda beach.
  • Praia João Fernandes: Large commercial beach with restaurants and bars (main photo at top of post).
  • Praia João Fernandinho: Smaller version, as indicated by the “inho“. Drink a caipirinha at the bar under the shade of a tree. Chill with your girlfriend when you feel lazy. It’s more romantic than Joao Fernandes.
  • Praia da Geriba: This is the surfing beach. In fact, it’s one of the most famous surfing beaches in Brazil. It’s probably my favorite beach in Buzios. It’s huge, with some cuties walking around in thongs, sun tanning, some swimming, and the surfing. If you’re into surfing, stay next to this beach. If you want the nightlife and scenic stuff instead, stay closer to Centro.
  • Praia de Manguinhos: On the other side of Geriba. Very chilled. Less fun than Geriba. Here it’s more about enjoying the sunset. Or getting a drink or food, at a Porto da Barra restaurant, right next to the beach. Apparently also a sailing beach.
  • Praia Brava: Nice chilled beach. Not completely surrounded by hotels and bars. At the far end there is a lot of space and more privacy. Girls in thongs lie around more undisturbed, with their boyfriends. So out of all the previously mentioned beaches, this is where I’d take my girlfriend – to the far end of Praia Brava, close to the steps to Olho de Boi. There are more waves at Praia Brava, since its on the same side of the Buzios peninsula as Geriba.
  • Praia Olho de Boi: This is a nudist beach, and it’s only reachable by foot from Praia Brava. Usually it’s mostly gay men who go to these types of beaches. But often also daring couples, who don’t care about perverts taking creepshots. Women are not likely to go there solo, since Brazil is not the safest place for women to get naked alone. My opinion is that unless you’re a nudist, you’d have to be desperate to go there in the hopes of seeing a naked girl. Rather go out and game. I did walk to the far end of Praia Brava where the Olho de Boi sign is. Because I like this tranquil part of Praia Brava. But to respect the fact that this is a nudist beach, and I had zero intention of taking my clothes off in public, I didn’t go check it out.

Outdoor Sex

If you want to have outdoor sex at a beach in Buzios, it won’t be easy. Maybe in the middle of the night you can get frisky somewhere – if that is even safe. There are always caipirinha stands at every beach during the day, which provides the booze, but limits privacy.

Rent a buggy, then you can explore Buzios more intimately with a girl, and find even more secluded beaches. Buzios has more than 21 beaches, and I only mentioned 13 above. Weekends, sex at the beach will be very difficult as its flocked with tourists. But during the week, it can potentially happen. If you get caught, it’s probably illegal. So even though Brazil is generally a chilled place, I’m definitely not encouraging this.

Daygame

Daygame was very quiet. That one girl you see, may be the only sexy girl you see for the next hour or two. Thus, when you have the chance, be verbally uninhibited and confident.

However, I do notice a cute girl or two in the Buzios Centro daytime video below. This is due to the fact that the vid was shot in Mid-February 2021 – which is still High Season, when Buzios was 100% open.

Buzios Activities

  • Rent a buggy. It’s around 160 Reais for 24 hours.
  • Surfing – maybe take a surfing lesson. Or rent a surfboard for 30 Reais per hour.
  • Beach tanning.
  • Walking around with your girlfriend in Centro
  • Getting a drink next to Orla Bardot.
  • Nightlife and clubbing (under normal circumstance).

Dating in Buzios

In the daytime, I’d walk around, maybe check out a few of the beaches around Centro with my date, and get a drink at a beachside bar.

At night, there are many great bars in the nightlife street Rua Das Pedras and Orla Bardot. You are spoiled for choice.

For the second date, you could go sun tanning with your date. Maybe get cheeky at Praia Olho De Boi, or do any other activity mentioned previously above.

Buzios Nightlife

For the nightlife, only Thursday, Friday, and Saturday were busy nights. While Sunday to Wednesday nights it was rather empty. Of course, the nights before mid-week public holidays also tend to be great.

I can’t review the clubbing this time around, as clubs were shut. Bars are in abundance in Centro. On the other hand, if you stay in the surf area, there are also bars on the opposite side of Praia Geriba.

Watch below video with peeks into 5 of the best dance clubs within proximity.

  1. Fishbone Buzios @ Praia Geriba
  2. Silk Beach Club @ Praia Brava
  3. Luv Buzios @ Orla Bardot [“permanently closed”]
  4. Pacha Buzios @ Rua das Pedras
  5. Horto @ Cabo Frio (neighbor town)

Privilege is another famous Buzios club (@ Orla Bardot). Here’s a taster. But I’ll admit, gender ratio looks suspicious in this video

Rua das Pedras is the main entertainment street in Centro, Buzios. If you keep walking through this street, you reach Orla Bardot, which also has plenty entertainment options at night. There you’ll find the statue of Brigette Bardot, who is said to have popularized Buzios in the 60s.

Buzios Travel Info

Accommodation

There are plenty of decent pousadas, airbnb’s and hotels in Buzios. For youth accommodation, the very central beachfront hostel, Bamboo Buzios, is likely to have the hottest girls. It’s also got awesome views.

Restaurants

In Buzios, the restaurants and alcohol are more expensive by Brazilian standards. I eat at pay per kilo restaurants, as it’s the best value for money. Buzin was expensive, but healthy, with very good seafood. Caverna restaurant is a little more budget-friendly, with prices similar to Rio de Janeiro’s. There’s healthy options, but also some deep-fried stuff to avoid.

Gym

There is only one small gym in central Buzios, namely Smartfit (still much better than nothing). Price is 25 Reais per daypass.

Transport

99Taxi is the cheapest way of getting around. Uber is more expensive. There are multiple buses per day to and from Rio de Janeiro, as well as a very solid 4-hour bus service (Viação 1001) connecting Buzios with Rio’s Galeão airport.

If you’d like to sort out your transport ahead of time, and prefer a little more luxury, such as hotel pickups and drop-offs, there is one more option. Book the shared Rio-Buzios transfer option at GetYourGuide. It’s dependable and very reasonably priced, with free cancellation up to 24 hours beforehand.

Online Dating in Buzios

This online dating section is as empty as the amount of girls to swipe within Buzios. Online dating in Buzios is very quiet. Thus you should focus on day- and nightgame.

However, VictoriaMilan is a great app for meeting girls in Rio de Janeiro as well as Sao Paulo (not specifically in Buzios though). If you are renting a car, increase your swiping radius and also visit the girls in the surrounding towns. This will be helpful to line up even more dates in Buzios.

Buzios Conclusion

Currently, don’t visit Buzios unless its for:

  1. Surfing at Praia Geriba. Year round Summer weather makes this an alluring city for surfers.
  2. Romantic getaway with the wife or girlfriend.
  3. A quiet relaxed place to get some remote work done.

Under regular circumstances, you could probably visit for the nightlife. But this is not currently the case. My own reason to visit Buzios, was to escape Rio de Janeiro‘s 10 day communist “lockdown”. Towards the end of my stay, I was very eager to get out of Buzios, and to go back to a normal, regular city again. Yet, I had a relaxing stay in a convenient private apartment.

I created below map, to point out the exact location of everything mentioned above. As you can see, there are plenty other beaches to also check out. This is the allure of a town like Buzios, with a lot of natural beauty. Couples can be adventurous and go “discover” daily, new beaches, new viewpoints, new hiking trails, new bars, etc. Kinda like re-experiencing childhood – when you were kids and loved discovering new things:

    • Its hard to tell, I left July 2021.

I’m sure its better now than it was in 2021.

Nightlife should be normal now, but there may be vaccine passports in some cities.
